Meet the Staff!

Jen Wiegers: FOUNDER & Executive director

Smiling woman with blue eyes and blonde hair in a blue top, outdoors.

Jen was born and raised in Indiana and is the oldest of six children. She graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she met her husband, Brian. They were married in 1997 and have since lived in Michigan, Virginia, and Indiana while raising their six children: Austin (and daughter-in-law Emily), Ally, Audrey, Avery, Aidan, and Andrew.

Jen and her family attend Gathering Point Church, where they enjoy serving and being actively involved in the life of the church.

Throughout the years, Jen homeschooled each of her children at one point or another. When the challenges of 2020 unfolded, she felt the Lord clearly leading her to create an educational option that would provide families with greater authority, transparency, and partnership in their children's education.

That vision became a reality when Living Stone opened its doors in August 2021. Since then, Jen has been passionate about building a Christ-centered learning community where students are known, loved, and challenged to grow academically, spiritually, and relationally.

Jen is honored to partner with parents and teachers to equip a generation of truth seekers and kingdom workers who think deeply, live faithfully, and serve boldly for the glory of God.

Cassandra satterfield: marketing & human resources coordinator

Born and raised in Indiana, she has worked across the United States in management, human resources, sales, and retail leadership. Her diverse professional background has shaped her passion for developing people, strengthening teams, and building meaningful purpose.

She and her husband, Jarod, are the proud parents of three children—Spain (6), Story (4), and their newest sweet addition, Spencer. Their family has been part of the Living Stone community since its very first year, and it is especially meaningful to now have their children growing and learning there as well. They are also members of Northview Church and enjoy spending their free time on the soccer field, at the dirt bike track, or embracing winter sports adventures together.

She believes deeply in the responsibility and privilege of investing not only in her own children, but also in their peers—encouraging them to grow in confidence, character, and Christ’s love. She values the strong sense of community at Living Stone and is honored to be part of it. For her, there is no greater gift than being a present and intentional mom, walking alongside her children in their journey of faith.

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid.” — Psalm 56:3–4

Cassie graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, KY. Her family  has lived all over the country but have called Indiana home for the last twelve years. Staying home with her children and graduating both of them from homeschool, has been her greatest life work and privilege.

She was instrumental in running the homeschool co-op their family was involved in for eight years. Now, she brings the skills she learned there, to Living Stone. Naturally an organizer and researcher, she color codes, builds spreadsheets, and creates systems.  In her spare time she enjoys kayaking, gardening, and knitting.

Cindy Gray: AM pre-k

Beth Plybon: Kindergarten

Kari Stedge: PM pre-k

I was born and raised in Indiana. Everyone says I have always been a teacher at heart, and I suppose that is true. I have taught Sunday School for many years, but the last 10 years I have been teaching the preschool children and have thoroughly enjoyed it.  I learned an incredible amount about teaching as a children’s leader for Bible Study Fellowship. It’s so fun to watch them develop and be able to converse with them as they become who God made them to be.

My husband (now deceased) and I were married for 30 years and had 4 daughters. They were my students and taught me so much about life. My first grand baby was born this past year. Before marriage and children, I was an activity director of a nursing facility, which I loved. Then I worked at a small paint store helping people pick out their paint and wallpaper, and this too I loved. Being a stay-at-home mom was something I had always dreamed of and I thank God I had the opportunity. I have many favorites but here are a few: nature, wildlife, history, flowers, insects, sitting on the porch with family and friends, going to church, nose diving into the Bible, decorating, anything beautiful, cooking, and throwing parties. That's just a few! This will be my third exciting year at Living Stone Homeschool Academy.

Kari is excited to be on board as the new afternoon 5’s Pre-K teacher! She has been teaching at various grade levels for 26 years.  She earned her Elementary Education and Bible degree from Kentucky Christian College.

Her family resides in Clarks Hill, where her husband (Jeff) is the pastor of the Christian Church. She teaches morning Pre-K at her preschool (Little Cubs). This fall, she will start her 7th year at Little Cubs.

She is a mom of 2 boys, Brayden and Zechariah (Zach).  Brayden just graduated from McCutcheon and is currently pursuing his EMT certification and will soon start classes to become a firefighter. Zach is a senior at McCutcheon and is on the football team.

She feels blessed to have the calling on her life to be a teacher and is looking forward to this new chapter at Living Stone.

Jennifer Moseley: Kindergarten

Beth spent the first 15 years of her life in Ohio before moving to Indiana in 1985. She’s a preacher’s kid, which meant moving a lot! She is thankful her final move brought her to Gathering Point Church because that’s where she met Marc, her husband of 35 years. Together they raised two wonderful daughters: Hayley married to Mitchell and mama to 2 sweet girls, and Kate, Children's Pastor at Gathering Point.  Now they're enjoying being grandparents to their granddaughters, Chandler and Collins.

Beth attended Purdue University before her most important job: being a stay-at-home mom for seven years. She then spent 20 years in public education working as a Reading Specialist. Living Stone has been a dream come true for Beth because she is able to combine her love of teaching kids to read books with her love of teaching kids to read the Book of Books: God’s Word. You’ll find her leading Chapel every morning where we emphasize these important TRUTHS found in Scripture:

God MADE us.

God LOVES us.

God sent Jesus to REDEEM us.

Beth enjoys Purdue athletics, Cubs baseball, family trips to the beach, Diet Coke, and serving at church through music ministry and VBS.

Hello! My name is Michael Weesner, and I am very excited to be part of Living Stone for its fourth year. I have taught at multiple schools during my 11 years of teaching in public, charter, and private settings. I’ve taught middle school history, high school US history, high school world history, and economics. My wife, Gloria, and I spent one year in South Korea teaching English to elementary and secondary students beginning in 2014. Teaching students without having to conceal my faith is truly an exciting opportunity. Christ has given me the ability to teach, and I am excited to use the gift at Living Stone. Have I mentioned I’m excited yet?

My wife and I have 3 children. In our spare time we enjoy cheering for the Pacers and Colts, camping, hiking, disk golfing, reading, and playing board games with friends and family. We go to Immanuel United Church of Christ.

I look forward to teaching your kids at Living Stone. It is my sincerest prayer to see this school continue to grow in faith and goodness. Thank you for your trust in the school and myself.

Sarah Flaherty: ART

Melanie Portlock: JR/Sr high

Laura Mummert: Music & spanish

As the daughter of an artist and art educator, Sarah grew up in Pella, Iowa, immersed in a world of art. Her mom encouraged hands-on (and often messy!) projects, which quickly sparked Sarah’s love for all things art. One of her favorite memories is when her mom allowed her to paint a giant mural on her bedroom wall—all by herself—at just four years old. Talk about a dream come true for a little artist!

This early exposure to the arts instilled a deep appreciation for artistic expression and a love for the creative process. Sarah went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts, followed by a Master of Arts in Teaching. She then spent the next six years of her career teaching elementary art in the Blue Valley School District in Overland Park, Kansas, before relocating to West Lafayette when her husband accepted a position at Purdue University.

With two young children at the time, Sarah quickly realized she wanted to transition from traditional classroom teaching to homeschooling. Together, Sarah, her husband, and now four wonderful children have been homeschooling and traveling the world ever since!

Sarah’s favorite part of teaching art is engaging students in fun, creative projects that help them become artists who think critically, solve problems, communicate effectively, and bring joy to the world through their artistic masterpieces. As children of the ultimate Creator, she believes that God created everyone to be a creator too—and nothing is more exciting than that!
